About Us

The District Grand Lodge of Bombay oversees Craft Freemasonry across the Bombay region under the authority of the United Grand Lodge of England. Its mission is to uphold the traditions, values, and charitable spirit of Freemasonry while supporting a network of lodges and chapters throughout the district.

Our Role & Structure

The District Grand Lodge of Bombay serves as the governing body for Craft lodges within its jurisdiction. It ensures that each lodge operates in accordance with the Book of Constitutions and the principles of the United Grand Lodge of England. The district also maintains close ties with the Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of England, reflecting the integral relationship between Craft and Royal Arch Masonry.

Mission, Vision & Values

The District Grand Lodge of Bombay is guided by a formal Mission, Vision, and Values Statement that shapes its direction and decisions. These principles emphasise integrity, fellowship, and service — core tenets that have defined Freemasonry for centuries.

Mission

To promote the moral and spiritual development of its members through the teachings of Freemasonry, fostering a community built on brotherly love, relief, and truth.

Vision

To be a beacon of Masonic excellence in the region — strengthening lodges, supporting charitable causes, and inspiring men to lead lives of purpose and integrity.

Values

Integrity, compassion, respect, and a commitment to self-improvement. These values underpin every meeting, ceremony, and charitable endeavour undertaken by the district.

Connection to UGLE & Royal Arch

The District Grand Lodge of Bombay operates under the constitution of the United Grand Lodge of England, the oldest Grand Lodge in the world. This affiliation ensures that all ritual, governance, and standards align with centuries of Masonic tradition. Alongside Craft Masonry, the district supports the Royal Arch — the completion of pure ancient Masonry — through its District Grand Chapter, which is answerable to the Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of England.

Governance

The district is administered by a team of officers led by the District Grand Master, supported by the District Board of General Purposes. Key documents — including the Book of Constitutions & IGMC and the Model of Lodge By-laws — provide the framework for lodge operations and ensure consistency across the district. Detailed officer listings and governance information are available on the Governance page.
